Standing approximately 27 cm tall, the Sugarplum Fairy is an enchanting heirloom sewing project inspired by faded château rooms, old ballet costumes, antique lace and those wonderfully atmospheric Christmases of old.
She wears layers of dusty plum tulle and tea-stained lace, with a tiny old-gold crown, woolly curls and delicate hand-finished details. Everything about her has been designed to feel a little timeworn and treasured, as though she might have been discovered wrapped in tissue paper at the bottom of an old box in a château attic.
And although she looks rather elaborate, she really isn't frightening to make.
The Sugarplum Fairy has been designed around lovely, traditional hand-sewing techniques, with fully illustrated step-by-step instructions to take you gently through the whole process. You don't need to be an accomplished stitcher, a little patience, a needle and thread and the willingness to enjoy the making are quite enough.
